Hello!

I am seriously considering purchasing the Vector ActiveX control for a rewrite of a CAM product. I have spent quite a bit of time reading this forum and am very impressed at the level of support provided. There are a couple of questions I have:

1. When working with fonts, are the fonts actually available as their vector components? I would like to be able to use them for subsequent machining.

2. I saw a bit of a discussion about outputting arcs as arcs? Is this now the case?

3. Have there been any difficulties handling DXF files coming from systems such as Catia, Solidworks or ProEngineer?

4. Without having downloaded the trial version, does the control support the mouse thumbwheel?

[Edit] I have been working with the trial. Using the DXFCurveArcOn set to true loads circles but not arcs. None of the arcs are visible in the control? I also could not find any documentation for DXFCurveArcOn. This item is critical for the work I will be doing. The machines I program cut extremely fast, the look ahead buffer in the CNC control cannot keep up with the cutting speed of short line seqments produced by polylines. I am hoping this issue can be addressed because the control appears to be very promising.

Thank you in advance for answering these questions. The product and support look superb.

Ted

Hi,

1. To export vector components for the text objects you can use VectorTextExportOn property: Call cAvax1.SetAvaxProperty(VectorTextExportOn_p, True)
2. For arcs you can use “Add_arc” function that makes a polyline arc or “Add_CurveArc “ function that makes a real arc.
3. We have tested DXF import /export with AutoCAD®. If there are problems from those systems please let us know.
4. Avax is not controlling mouse thumbwheel. You can control it from your application.
5. “DXFCurveArcOn” is a property on how arcs from DXF files will be imported to AVAX (as polylines or as real arcs). If there is problem with this please sent us by e-mail the DXF file.

Thank you for your interest.
